Blair & Esther Allan

4 March, 2015

Blair and I were born and bred in Geelong and we met in 2005 at a local football netball club. It couldn’t be described as love at first sight as our initial meeting involved a mixed netball game where Blair knocked me over. Luckily, we eventually discovered that we have more in common than our competitive nature. Our relationship grew as we were attending the same university, playing sport together and attending the same church in Geelong.

In 2008 we were married, Blair finished his Engineering degree and accepted a job in the Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It was initially a difficult decision to leave our family and friends behind and start life somewhere new. However, we trusted that this was God’s plan for us and moved to a little rental property in Ferntree Gully. Although we were also driving back to Geelong every weekend for church, sport and family commitments we felt that God was making plans for us to be a part of something in our new community but we needed to be patient.

I continued commuting to Geelong to finish my final year of Primary Teaching. I completed teaching rounds at a small government school also in Eastern suburbs of Melbourne where I’ve been teaching grade Prep ever since!  Although I work with teachers, students and families that may not yet know God’s love, I am able to do His work by showing grace, kindness  and love as well as supporting the Chaplaincy program in my school through prayer, support and fundraising for the program.

After living in Ferntree Gully for 5 years we built and moved to our home in Pakenham. We love the area we live in! We started looking for a church and felt called to go to Beaconsfield Baptist Church. As soon as we arrived we felt so welcome and knew we were finally in our spiritual home.

We have now been married 7 years and have been blessed with two awesome children, Wade and Piper. Blair is still working in Bayswater, playing cricket in Bayswater and football for Rythdale Officer Cardinia Football Club. I teach one day a week and love taking the kids along to Blair’s games to cheer him on.

We are very excited to be a part of the team at Follow Baptist Church. Beaconsfield Baptist made us feel welcome, began wonderful friendships and provided community for us to belong to. We pray that God will use us to carry out His work, make connections with the new families and members that will come to Follow.
